SXSW 2015

It’s heeeeeere.

SXSW is upon us and just like last year, I’ll be spending more time at unofficial events than I will at the actual conference. I’ll be all around downtown catching events with developers, designers and startups. I’ve highlighted some of those events which I’m most excited about. I hope you’ve RSVP’d for each of them!

Thursday, March 12^th

11am – 7pm	The University of Texas at Austin School of Journalism is organizing a hackathon for journalists, software developers, and designers, sponsored by the Austin American-Statesman.
5pm – 9pm	Join me at the 3rd Annual ATC Gateway Party to kick off Austin’s largest tech conference! This event showcases Austin’s executive clout, global appeal, and the collaborative and vibrancy of the Austin tech scene while showcasing Austin Technology Council member companies.
6pm – 10pm	What happens when 50+ Austin startups all throw a party at the same time? The 2015 Pre-SXSW Startup Crawl, of course.

Friday, March 13^th

11am – 2pm	Start the conference off right by connecting with locals, friends from out of town and Refreshers from around the globe at the Refresh Lunch – 7^th Annual Web Developer kickoff lunch.
12pm – 4pm	SoFin will be a social gathering for FinTech and FinServ during SXSW 2015.
5pm – 8pm	High Five Hour is going to be an awesome event put on by some awesome companies. How strong is your High Five game?
8pm – 12am	dProgram is Barcamp evolved. A day-long event focused on technology, human progress, and the future of digital culture… Emergent Order hosts the dProgram SXSW Launch Party.

Saturday, March 14^th

9am – 1:30pm	Austin TechBreakfast is kicking off an awesome week with the best Show and Tell in town. Come and participate and experience TechBreakfast. No powerpoint. No presentations that drone on. Just demos of the coolest tech happening throughout the world.
9am – 6pm	dProgram is Barcamp evolved. A day-long event focused on technology, human progress, and the future of digital culture.
12pm – 2:30pm	Learn how to Pitch Like a Unicorn at Startup Oasis.
3pm – 5pm	Google is hosting a Happy Hour & tech talks at Startup Oasis
4pm – 7pm	Do you work in Developer Evangelism? Come hang out with your peers from across the tech industry at the 2^nd annual SXSW Dev Evangelist Happy Hour.
8pm – 2pm	Dueling battle robots. Leg warmers. Yep, it’s an 80’s party.
8pm – 12am	dProgram is Barcamp evolved. A day-long event focused on technology, human progress, and the future of digital culture… Emergent Order hosts the dProgram SXSW Exit Party.
10pm – 2am	20 startups will each get their own area to showcase what they’re building at the Startup Oasis Party.

Sunday, March 15^th

11am – 1pm	Join Mobile Future at SXSW for #MobileRitas, a meet-up with other mobile leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs.
11am – 4pm	Austin Ventures hosts the Hometown Hangover Cure 2015.
12pm – 2pm	Female entrepreneurs will share their perspective when it comes to Scaling Your Venture at Startup Oasis
2pm – 5pm	Hangout with the design community at the SXSW Dribble Meetup.
2:30pm – 5pm	This SXSW Entrepreneurs Giant Meetup description is in French, so I don’t know what to expect. But, then again, ‘entrepreneur’ roots from French etymology.
4:30pm – 7:30pm	Connect with startups, the BizSpark team, Microsoft Ventures and Microsoft Advertising at the 7th Annual Microsoft Startup Meatup at SXSW 2015. Come to network and enjoy some great BBQ, beer, live music.
5pm – 11pm	Tech Cocktail’s Startup Celebration at SXSW 2015. They’ve mixed together the nation’s brightest startups in a venue jam packed with technology enthusiasts, and served over cocktails.
5:30pm – 8pm	IRELAND@SXSW 2015
6pm – 8pm	ABQ2SXSW will be showcasing the startups and entrepreneurs rising in Albuquerque at Startup Oasis

Monday, March 16^th

11am – 1:30pm	Cisco is providing mimosas and showing the movie “How Wearables Could Power Early Cancer Detection“.
12pm – 1pm	Kauffman Research will show you that there’s more than just The Valley in their “4 Insights from the fastest-growing companies in America” panel.
2pm – 4pm	Kauffman Research is holding a hands-on workshop to teach you “How to measure the performance of your entrepreneurial ecosystem“.
6pm – 9pm	Calling Web developers of all stripes! Join us at the SXSW Web Developer Happy Hour for good conversation, appetizers, and a night out without the laptop. Buffalo Billiards has tons of games, such as darts, billiards, and shuffleboard.
6pm – 8:30pm	IBM will give their Watson supercomputer free reign to come up with appetizers, desserts, and whiskey pairings at their New Way to Startup pitch event.
7pm – 11pm	The Global Accelerator Network party aims to bring together all of the accelerators, startups, partners, and mentors at SXSW.
7:30pm – 10pm	Intel is bringing eight brand new interactive demos to their DevTech Mixer. The Internet of Things comes alive with Autonomous Dancing Spiders (powered by Intel® Edison), Fractured Future (interactive DJ-Art), and Full Stack Robots (live robotic demos).

Tuesday, March 17^th

9am – 11am

Join us at Austin Open Coffee Club: SXSW Edition to connect with Austin’s best entrepreneurs, breakfast tacos (Tacodeli), and espresso (Houndstooth), all under one roof at Austin’s entrepeneurial center of gravity, Capital Factory.
